Who can participate in the X Talento Challenge?

Young people may participate, provided they were born between 2005 and 2012, inclusive, at the time of registration in 2026.

What are the participation teams like?

Participation takes place in teams of between five and 10 members, maintaining a minimum balance of 25%–75% between young people with and without disabilities, according to the following criteria:

Teams must be accompanied by between one and two tutors, who may be teachers, leisure and free-time activity leaders, group coordinators, or similar professionals. The teams must also be supported by an entity with its own legal personality, such as an educational centre, association, foundation, or leisure and free-time group.

What are the roles of the tutor or tutors?

The tutor or tutors will be responsible for:

  • Registering for the contest through the website.
  • Registering the team in the private area.
  • Acting as the communication link between Fundación ONCE and the team
  • Coordinating the mentoring sessions if the team advances to STAGE 2.
  • Accompany and guide the team throughout the entire process.
  • Correctly submit the required materials and documents through the private area.

Can a team submit a person who is unrelated to any organisation without a legal personality of its own to be their tutor?

No. Tutors must be affiliated with an organisation with its own legal personality (such as an educational centre, association, foundation, or leisure and free-time group) and must provide evidence of this in the participation form. Individual participation is not permitted.

What if I don’t have the minimum number of people with a disability to create a team?

If you are interested in taking part but need to include people with or without disabilities to complete your team, we recommend first looking within your immediate circle (friends, classmates, colleagues or acquaintances), as teams formed through existing relationships often show greater cohesion and motivation. You can also contact a local disability organisation or association.

Do I have to justify the disability of the participants on my team?

No disability certification is required to register for the X Talento Challenge.

However, if there are reasonable doubts about the team’s composition or the effective participation of its members in developing the project, the organisers may request the relevant supporting documentation. If the documentation is not provided within the specified deadline, the team may be disqualified from continuing in the contest. If the team has already been selected as a winner, it may lose its entitlement to the prize, which would then be awarded to the next-ranked team according to the jury’s classification.

The same will apply if any team member, with or without a disability, does not meet the age ranges established for participation in the programme.

Can youths register and participate on their own?

No. Participation must always take place through an adult tutor who is affiliated with an organisation with its own legal personality (such as an educational centre, association, foundation, or leisure and free-time group.

Registration and team management are carried out exclusively through the tutor’s private area.

Must the participants provide any personal data during the participation process?

No personal data will be requested from team members. Only the year of birth and sex (that is to say boy, girl or prefer not to say) will be requested for each participant. This information will be used solely for statistical and participation-analysis purposes, as well as to verify compliance with the programme’s age requirements.

How many participation phases are there?

The contest consists of two participation stages and a final stage for evaluating proposals and determining the winners:

  • STAGE 1 (until 16 December 2026): teams make an initial outline of their project by completing the Project Summary Template available in the private area.
  • STAGE 2 (until 16 April 2027): teams develop their project with the support of professional mentoring, preparing the Project Plan together with its Summary and the Team Skills document.
  • FINAL STAGE: After the proposals submitted during this stage have been evaluated, the five finalist teams will be invited to an in-person event in Madrid, where they will present their project to the jury. Following these presentations, the jury will select the two winning teams, which will receive €5,000 net to launch their positive social-impact project.

Are there any compulsory specifications for the work?

Yes. Each stage has mandatory deliverables, which must be submitted according to the instructions set out in the teaching guide available in the private area. The relevant documents must be uploaded in the PROJECT SUBMISSION section within the website’s private area.
