Who can participate in the X Talento Challenge?

Young people aged 14 to 21 years, born between 2003 and 2010, with and without disabilities.

What are the participation teams like?

Teams must have no fewer than five and no more than ten members. In addition, the balance rule of 25% - 75% must be observed according to the following options:

  1. At least 25% of team members must have a disability.
  2. At least 25% of team members must not have a disability.

They must also be supervised by either one or two tutors, who may be educators, leisure monitors, group leaders, etc., and must be supported by an entity with a legal personality such as a school or college, association, foundation...

What is the tutors' role?

The tutors may be educators, leisure or free-time monitors, group leaders, etc.

They must also belong to an entity with a legal personality such as a school or college, association, foundation, etc.

Tutors are responsible for:

  • Registering for the contest on the website.
  • Registering the team or teams on the website.
  • Acting as a contact point between the Fundación ONCE and their teams.
  • Coordinating mentoring sessions with the mentor or mentors assigned and teams advancing into PHASE 2.
  • Providing guidance and support to participants throughout all stages of the project.
  • Uploading the projects to their private area.

Can a team submit a person who is unrelated to any organisation without a legal personality of its own to be their tutor?

No. When filling out the participation form, all the tutors must affiliate themselves with some organisation with its own legal personality, such as a school, an association, a free-time or leisure group, etc. No one may participate on an individual base.

What if I don’t have the minimum number of people with a disability to create a team?

If you are interested in creating a project and participating in the X Talento Challenge but do not know enough participants with a disability in your circle, you can contact us and we’ll try to help you.

Do I have to justify the disability of the participants on my team?

There is no requirement to provide proof of disability of any team members to register in X Talento Challenge. However, if the contest organisers have doubts about the correct composition of any team or the team wins a prize, the appropriate certifications may be requested. If these are not provided, the right to the prize will be forfeited. The prize will be awarded to the next team or teams in the jury's classification. The same may occur if any participant, with or without disability, falls outside the age range for which the programme is intended.

Can youths register and participate on their own?

No, this not possible. They always have to be under the aegis of their tutor, who must, in turn, be affiliated with an organisation with a legal personality of its own.

Must the participants provide any personal data during the participation process?

You will never be asked for any information about the members of the team or teams created during the participation phase.

How many participation phases are there?

There are two participatory phases and one for choosing the winners:

  • In PHASE 1, the work teams must make an initial summary of their social impact project by completing the Project Summary Template, available in the private area.
  • In PHASE 2, each work team presents a Project Plan with the advice of a mentor, as well as a Team Skills document..
  • Finally, in PHASE 3: CHOOSING THE WINNERS the Jury chooses two teams to receive the €5,000 prize to launch their positive social impact project.

Are there any compulsory specifications for the work?

Correct! In PHASE 1, the work must be presented by completing the Project Summary Template, which is available in the private area of the website. In PHASE 2, the team must present the final Project Plan along with the Team Skills document, also both available in the private area.

What are the important dates in the contest?

PHASE 1 ends on 11 March 2024.

PHASE 2 begins on 11 March 2024 and ends on 20 May 2024.

PHASE 3 will take place between the end of May and the beginning of June when the Jury meets to determine the winners.
